State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC)

College Communications & Marketing coordinates the State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) each year beginning in September and ending in October. SECC provides a way for employees of state agencies to donate to many of their favorite charities through the convenience of payroll deduction, though cash gifts are also accepted. Richland exceeds the monetary and participation goals set by the state every year, and was even recognized in 2007 as one of the top five donators in Texas.

SECC forms are distributed to workgroup division heads with booklets that include a listing of charities so employees can find their passion and make a donation to a cause that has made an impact on their life. Donations can also be made to a variety of District and Richland-specific scholarship funds to impact another life. Links to the current booklet are available via RLC e-mails every year and sent regularly to the campus during SECC campaigns, or in current issues of the ThunderBridge.

Workgroups who meet their monetary goal with 80% full & limited full-time staff participation by a particular deadline (usually scheduled halfway through the campaign) receive 50% matching funds, plus a workgroup lunch celebration. These workgroups are also announced via e-mail each week during the campaign via e-mail and published in The ThunderBridge. Matching funds are based on your workgroup’s total donation, not just your goal. The more your workgroup gives, the more you will receive!
