Jon Havens
Jon Havens comes to Richland College after spending the last four seasons as an assistant for the Northeastern State men’s basketball program. During his tenure at Northeastern State the team achieved its first back to back winning seasons in 10 years as well as its first NCAA tournament appearance in 10 years as well.
Before joining the River Hawks program, Havens was an assistant coach at the University of Texas Pan-American for the 2009-2010 season. Prior to his stint at Texas Pan American, Havens spent two years as an assistant coach at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. During his time at St. Edward’s, Havens was a part of two conference championship teams and coached six players that held either all-conference or all-region accolades.
Havens was a four-year starter at the University of Texas San Antonio, and he was an All-Southland Conference performer. He led the team in three-point shooting during his tenure with the Roadrunners. He also finished his career fourth in school history in assists, sixth in three-point field goals made and 27th in scoring.
He was a four-year starter at Lewisville High School and led the state of Texas in three-point shooting percentage for three consecutive years as well as a 5A First Team All-State member.
Havens graduated from UTSA in 2004 with a bachelor of arts degree in history. He also received his master of science degree in health and kinesiology in 2013 from Northeastern State. Havens resides in Dallas and was married in the summer of 2011 to Lauren Crim.
