Learning to Learn: Developing Learning Power

As an institution fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, Richland College is implementing an ongoing, focused course of action designed to improve student learning: Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). Richland College’s QEP is Learning to Learn: Developing Learning Power. As determined by the faculty-led QEP team, the Richland College QEP integrates:

  • one goal – to foster in our students the traits of the lifelong learner;
  • one Dimension of Learning Power – Changing and Learning; and
  • one student learning outcome – Students will demonstrate their capacity to change and learn through effort and the intentional practice of thinking.

The Dimension of Learning Power – Changing and Learning is central to student learning success because students need to have a sense of themselves as someone who learns and changes over time. Students develop the ability to incorporate Changing and Learning as a key learning attribute and recognize that successful students grow, adapt, and change as learners throughout life.
